- April 27, 2013 - Toys We Wish We Had As Kids
- Capcom-Unity has photos of some pretty amazing D-Arts figurines. They’re called “statues.” I’m amused that they use car paint. The entire line is pretty good stuff...and they’re available over here!
- April 19, 2013 - Voice Videos
- The man of many faces (watch the video to see what I mean) who did the Spark Mandrill rendition mentioned below has come out with another one, this time Dr. Wily’s fortress from Mega Man 2 (boy, that sure is a popular song). Ironically, my personal opinion is that his faces were better in the Spark Mandrill one, but the tune is more spot on with the Dr. Wily song (some of the “instruments” sound totally synthesized). Still, they’re both great arrangements.
- April 19, 2013 - Maverick Hunter Prime
- I was sent this link a short while ago, but thus far I’ve been unable to find any sort of confirmation on it. It actually strikes me as an April Fool’s joke, but it was posted on the wrong date, so probably it’s not. Anyway, take of it as you will. It’s not uncommon for companies to develop prototypes and then quietly ditch them without ever announcing them publicly. Though I have to say, this is one of the more...creative redesigns I’ve seen of the character yet.
- April 11, 2013 - Video Links
- A couple of links since I haven’t posted in a while. First up is one that I should have posted a long time ago (better late than never, I guess?). It’s Dr. Wily’s fortress music from Mega Man 2 using real instruments that nevertheless manages to sound an awful lot like the original NES tune. The second video link is Spark Mandrill’s tune...acapella. Just watch his faces. Talk about over-dubbing.
- March 9, 2013 - Triple Speed Runners
- This notice is a bit late, but there’s another charity marathon event taking place soon, to benefit Child’s Play Charity. You can find them over at Triple Speed Runners.
- January 11, 2013 - Videos
- I’ve been kind of remiss in posting this, so let’s bring in the new year with a video that demonstrates Marvel VS Capcom series combos. (Obviously I never was this good at the game.)
- December 22, 2012 - Orchestration
- Going along with the other Mega Man 3 music remixes mentioned below is this orchestra version of Proto Man’s tune (the ending), to celebrate Mega Man’s 25th anniversary.
- December 18, 2012 - 25th Anniversary
- I’ll just let Capcom Unity field this one since they already have the picts and the links, but there are some interesting things coming out, including ports of Mega Man 1 - 6 for the 3DS (which...I don’t own) and a nifty D-Arts posable figure.
- December 16, 2012 - Remixes
- Somewhat ironically, I’ve received links to two different Mega Man 3 music remixes within a relatively short span of time. The first is all in synth but uses new instruments and compositions. The second reminds me a lot of those remastered album CDs that were released in Japan. As with so much of the fan music produced for the Mega Man series, they’re both very good. I’ve added them to the Links section, so go and enjoy!
- December 11, 2012 - Boss Battle Tribute
- As the 25th anniversary of Mega Man approaches, certainly more and more celebrations will take place. I’ll try to chronicle at least some of them here. There’s the fan-made game mentioned below, and here is a collection of fan-art dubbed a Boss Battle Tribute which also includes artwork of various main characters of the various series as well.
- December 9, 2012 - Street Fighter X Mega Man
- Ordinarily I don’t mention previews on the main page—that’s what the previews page is for. But I haven’t posted anything in a while, and besides, this one is curious because it’s a fan-made game that is being released by Capcom Unity. This leaves me in something of a quandary. Ordinarily I don’t review fan-made games (I play them, but don’t write up pages about them), but this one will be available for download off Capcom’s own site, so...
- November 8, 2012 - The Wily Wars
- I don’t know how legit this is, since it seems to be created by a third party, but The Wily Wars will supposedly be one of the games preloaded on a new Game Gear remake system that’s coming out soon. Of the 80 games claimed on the packaging, The Wily Wars was considered important enough to get its logo on the front of the box (along with Street Fighter II and Sonic) which is either a testament to how popular the marketers think Mega Man is, or to the low quality of all of the other game titles available on the system. Your pick.
(Note: Amazon also lists a home console version of this which also supposedly includes 80 games, but I don’t know if The Wily Wars will be available on that one.)
